An Xbox 360 Enthusiast's Impressions of the PS3

Recently, my wife and I decided that it was time to take that next step and complete the 3rd piece of the "next-gen" video game consoles trilogy by purchasing the PlayStation 3. We settled for the 40GB after much debate and research simply because it was cheapest and did what we essentially wanted it to do: play Blu Rays and PS3 games.

I really wanted to go with a 20GB or a 60GB to guarantee near-perfect PS2 back compatibility However, the only systems on the market were used systems, and in th… Continue

Watching PR Reps Squirm

Not to plug another podcast, but I was listening to Major Nelson's new podcast yesterday where he's interviewing a guy from Madam Trousseau's Wax Museum, because of the new Master Chief wax figure that was crafted for the Las Vegas location.

Major Nelson asks the guy if he's a gamer and if he plays Halo. I'm paraphrasing, but the guy answers with a very enthusiastic response. He says, "I am a huge gamer, and a huge Halo fan."

First mistake -- the PR Rep goes on… Continue

Bioshock

Not since Oblivion was released have I seen so many of the people on my XBL friends list playing the same game at the same time. Last night I logged on to play a little Bioshock and low and behold, 6 of my friends were online and ALL of them were playing Bioshock.

Which is good, because I'm glad to see that the game is getting some of the recognition that it deserves. If this game is as good as the reviews are saying (and I can attest that it is definitely good) then people should be p… Continue

80GB PS3 Bundle - Where's the value?

I'm a bit confused on this new 80GB PS3 bundle deal.

What is the incentive to pay $600? I understand you get Motorstorm and an extra 20GB of space, but is there anything else included in this deal? Motorstorm retails for $60, so what does the remaining $40 go towards? A 20GB HDD upgrade? No thanks! From what I understand, 60GB is plenty of space.

To me, this doesn't feel like a good bundle deal. At least with the Xbox 360 Elite you get the HDMI cable thrown in, and a 100GB upg… Continue

Why is Killzone such a big deal?

One of Sony's biggest selling points for the PS3 (besides MGS4) seems to be Killzone 2, especially after the trailer from last year's E3 and the real-time demo from this year's. But does anybody remember how mediocre the original game was? The original Killzone was supposed to be the Halo 2 killer, and it ended up getting some really average review scores, and had some questionable controls. The PSP tactical/action hybrid was not all that spectacular, either. Is it really safe for Sony fans to p… Continue
