Organized musings on Microsoft's, Nintendo's and Sony's current strategies

Microsoft knows that they have a strong user base that enjoys the shooters, racing games and sports games. They also know that they need to expand out of this market, so they position the Xbox live marketplace as the place to do that. Their core audience will buy the console and the games they want, and the expandable market will buy the live marketplace content, and eventually expand out to the few games positioned for that market. However, because they are the newest company to bring a video g… Continue

Nintendo wins at making consoles

I like numbers. I like statistics. And, I kinda want to be a Nintendo fan. I don't think I am, I think it's more that they make the games that I want to play. I don't know if I'm trying to hold on to a youth that has long since past me by, or if I really am that childish, but I'm just not that interested in games that are based in reality. I like the un-reality of these video games. Nintendo kinda specialises in video games that not only are good, but they are nothing close to simulators.

Any… Continue

Grammar is hard

I was once a member of the grammar gestapo. And while I had an enormous sense of well-being helping others on the path to crisp, clear and concise English, my social life lacked. Teachers began to resent me for correcting them. I didn't date. A guy I eventually dated told me that nobody really likes to be corrected. I took that lesson to heart. I try to avoid correcting others' grammar, even when they ask me to. It's just a habit I've grown out of (or into, depending on your point of reference.)… Continue

Bobobo bo bobobo hajike matsuri - The End

Bobobo is a great bad game. It's simple. It's perfect if you aren't in a state of mind where you can play a complex game. It 's incredibly forgiving. And the boss battles are perfect for that person in a state of mind where you can't play a complex game: challenging but forgiving, and still totally doable. The last level in the game appropriately scales the difficulty with the game mechanic. The game plays by moving the analog sticks to direct bobobo's nose hair towards enemies. The last level h… Continue

ボボボ ボー ボーボボ はじけまつり (bobobo- bo bo-bobo hajike matsuri)

That’s right kids. Here are videos from the crazy game sensation that is bobobo. This is the first game.

But wait, that’s just the opening title song. So, in case you hadn’t figured it out, bobobo is an exercise in non-sequitur. Seriously. In the manga and cartoon series, all of his attacks are really just excuses for him to do something odd to confuse his opponents. But really, there’s an actual story. The over-arching story behind the bobobo series is that bobobo is a… Continue

And people wonder why gay people aren't always completely open. It's because it becomes a defining aspect of a person, when it really isn't. Being gay is about as important as being into girls. It's a rather small part of what defines us, and is only important when it's used to separate and define people.
