God of War 2: first impressions and GLITCH....
Ok...so I have played a little over 2.5 hours of God of War 2 (hereafter named GoW2), and here is what I think. AWESOME! The story picks up right where the first one left off and it pulls no punches. It is brutal and violent and somewhat devastating all at the same time. You are thrust into a grand battle with Colossus at the beginning of the game. I know right away that I would need an icepack for my thumbs right away! The graphics are amazing for being a PS2 game...simply gorgeous. There is one part of the Colossus battle where you enter a room where the light hits just right and dust particles sparkle like glitter. There is amazing detail in the water and shiny floors as well. The game controls like the first one and has added a few mechanics like the grapple and the ability to wall climb has been improved. I especially love the mounted combat...I get to ride a freakin' Pegasus!!! And it's a badass Pegasus at that!!! I aim to finish this game by next weekend so I will continue to update my impressions.
Oh, I did find a lovely glitch in the game. Now, I have not looked this up to see if anyone else has encountered this so forgive me if this is old news:
It happens in the Lair of the Titan, right when you enter Typhon's Cavern and you have to fight the Gorgon. I killed the first one and 2 more spawn along with some Harpies. One of the Gorgon's started to use its Gorgon Stare to turn me to stone when I must have pressed the O button and grabbed a Harpy and tore it in half. Suddenly, the game slowed down and I was fighting in slow motion and I could NOT move from the spot I was in. I could only use the attack buttons, the jump button did nothing. I was able to fight, do damage, and kill the remaining Harpies AND without taking any damage! I was being hit and blood was splattering but my damage meter remained static. I got the O to appear over one Gorgon's head and she moved out of range. I did the same to the other Gorgon, but I ended up killing her by continuing to hit her. All the enemies were dead except the one Gorgon and all I could see of her was her shadow. She was too scared to come close to me...LOL. Anyways, I still couldn't move!!!! And I was still in slow motion! So....I had to reload the game and do the battle all over again...which I did successfully without running into the glitch again.
