Xbox Live Arcade... Now coming to Nintendo WII!!!

http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs/levelup/archive/2007/06/26/level-up-...

Looks like Nintendo is announcing what we all knew was coming. On Wednesday, Nintendo announces WiiWare a service separate from Virtual Console that will be accessed via the Wii Shop channel. The article claims that, much like XBLA & the PSN before it, Nintendo will be approaching large studios, as well as small studios to produce shorter, original, more creative games for this service. Worthy of note is Nintendo's claim that they will determine the pricing for content on a game to game basis. It will be difficult to gague wether this is a good thing or a bad thing this early, but I'm sure we're all quite curious. Also, with Nintendo's track record, Wii owners can hope that the big N's judgement of quality releases will be a bit more stringent than MS's. Yes, I'm looking at you Mad Tracks.

What's this lack of content? At the moment, sure.. but a year from now? Wii sales have publishers salivating at the install base and cheap cost of production, I doubt there will be any shortage of games within the next couple years.

This news expands on that idea, we should be seeing some interesting things hitting the WiiArcade.

Nintendo's success at the moment is in the hands of the people making games for it. While first party titles will be few and far between, any smart person would release the best games they can between those releases.. and try to get a piece of that sweet Wii Pie.

This is very interesting news... I'm hoping come E3 they will reveal what we can expect from this system...

Although i am concerned that this is just another delay tactic that NIntendo is using for the lack of content thats coming out... But if it will keep my Wii from turning into another Gamecube with "innovative" controls, then i guess im fine with that...

I'm very excited. Nintendo is slowly but surely making some progress in the online space.

Also, could this mean Streets of Rage 4? If so, WiiWare FTW.
