Looks like Nintendo is announcing what we all knew was coming. On Wednesday, Nintendo announces WiiWare a service separate from Virtual Console that will be accessed via the Wii Shop channel. The article claims that, much like XBLA & the PSN before it, Nintendo will be approaching large studios, as well as small studios to produce shorter, original, more creative games for this service. Worthy of note is Nintendo's claim that they will determine the pricing for content on a game to game basis. It will be difficult to gague wether this is a good thing or a bad thing this early, but I'm sure we're all quite curious. Also, with Nintendo's track record, Wii owners can hope that the big N's judgement of quality releases will be a bit more stringent than MS's. Yes, I'm looking at you Mad Tracks.
