E3 has come and gone and personally I think the smaller E3 is awesome for sites like allgames.com
We're not competing with 35000 people to play games, talk to developers, and get around. Sure there is a downside that is traveling from location to location in order to experience everything but...It's Santa Monica, my backyard, and it's gorgeous out! The truth is, we were able to have a good time, play the games, and meet a ton of people we normally wouldn't even find let alone run into a few times. I would have probably hit the hangar first to experience that broader range of titles and then head to the suites for a closer look, but still I thought this was an awesome E3 for me personally.
I do wonder what next year may bring, there are a lot of opinions on how this went and I'd be thrilled if they did a big hall with everyone and everything in it, but DONT INVITE EVERYONE BACK. Just the same crowd as this year. It turns out the footage was lost from day 1, but I have a ton of stuff from Day 2 and 3 archived to disk so you can still get some good quality local footage as I'll be posting it up on youtube and linking here at the community site. From now on, anytime I go anywhere or do anything of interest, I'll be saving to disk to avoid the losses that occurred during E3.
On the community site front, we're about to get an update that has some pretty cool features
* customizable network badges to let your members show off their membership in your network and promote your network across the web
* new and improved video, photo and music players for your network
* new widget gallery where you can customize, and your members can pick from, all the badges and players on your network in one location
* streamlined sharing page to more rapidly spread videos, photos, and music from your network
* and, redesigned photo, video, and forum detail pages
There are a lot of other goodies coming so stay tuned for more updates.
We know a lot of listeners were upset that we didnt do any formal shows last week but it just wasn't feasable with the situation the way it was. We'll be live on Monday and we'll have a ton of great discussion on E3, the games, the people, the whole thing. Of course we're excited to hear what all of you thought from seeing the wall to wall coverage on all the major sites. If you can't be there live give a call to the toll free number 866-880-0156 or send us an email to radio@allgames.com
Finally I want to take a minute to say it was great meeting all the other podcasters and industry people. Cheapy D, Nelson from Achievement Junkie, Uncle Gamer, and the very cool Godfree from GamerTag. Special shout out to ShadowNextGen who hung with us along with the supercool Gamer Edie who is always a joy and a pleasure to be around. Bobby B was able to experience what we did so with all the restrictions of the tighter E3, it was nice to see that he could still work the blackwolf magic.
